This is a great question and one we often receive. No, Quiet Corner Transport is not a taxi company; we are a licensed general livery service, and there are significant differences between the two:

  1. Service Model: Taxi companies typically offer "On Demand" rides, meaning they can pick up any passenger without prior scheduling. In contrast, our livery service requires all rides to be scheduled in advance. We do not provide on-demand transportation.
  2. Operating Area: Taxi companies usually operate within specific local areas or towns. As a livery company, we are permitted to operate across the entire state, giving us the flexibility to serve a broader geographic area.
  3. Pricing Structure: Taxis often charge a base pickup rate plus a rate per mile. Our livery company operates differently by charging an hourly rate, calculated from the time a vehicle leaves our headquarters until it returns.
  4. Hours of Operation: Due to the on-demand nature of their business, taxi companies are generally required to be available 24/7. Our services, being pre-scheduled, do not require 24/7 operations, allowing us to efficiently plan our resources and manage staff hours.

These distinctions help us tailor our services to best meet the scheduled and specialized transportation needs of our clients across Connecticut.


At Quiet Corner Transport, all our drivers are professional and hold a CT passenger endorsement, which is the basic requirement set by the state for livery and taxi companies. However, we believe in going beyond the minimum standards to ensure the highest quality of service.

Before hitting the road, each of our drivers undergoes a rigorous training program, which is also refreshed annually. This comprehensive training covers a variety of essential topics, including:

  • Winter Driving Safety: Preparing drivers to handle adverse weather conditions safely.
  • Wheelchair Securement Training: Ensuring all passengers, especially those with mobility aids, are transported securely.
  • Emergency Management: Equipping drivers with the skills to manage unexpected situations effectively.

At QC Transport, we understand that schedules can change, but as all our rides are booked in advance, we require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. For cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time, a fee of 50% of the ride cost may be charged. Cancellations made on the day of the ride will incur a charge of the full fare.

Tipping your driver is appreciated but not required. At Quiet Corner Transport, we ensure that all our employees are paid a fair wage, and we do not rely on customer tips to supplement their income.


Please note that for any rides paid for by insurance, federal regulations prohibit our drivers from accepting tips. We aim to comply fully with these guidelines to maintain the integrity of our services and the welfare of our clients

Booking a ride with us is easy and can be done through the following steps:

  1. Fill Out the Booking Form: Start by filling out our online booking form. The form will ask for all necessary details to provide you with an accurate quote and confirm if we can accommodate your ride.
  2. Immediate Response: We respond to all inquiries submitted through the form within one business day. If your ride is scheduled less than four days in advance, we advise you also to call our office directly to ensure timely processing.
  3. Call for Assistance: If you encounter any difficulties with the online form, please don’t hesitate to call our office. Our secretary will assist you in gathering all the required information.
  4. Payment: Once you receive and accept the quote, payment must be made in advance using a credit or debit card, either through an emailed link or over the phone.
  5. Confirmation and Reminders: We will call you the night before your scheduled ride to remind you and provide a more accurate estimated pickup time. Additionally, our drivers will call when they are approximately 10 minutes away on the day of the ride.

To ensure we can accommodate your transportation needs, we recommend booking your ride at least four days in advance. For rides scheduled less than four days away, please also call our office directly after submitting your online booking form to confirm immediate processing. This dual approach ensures that we can manage both scheduled and short-notice travel requests effectively.
 


While our drivers are not medical professionals, they are trained to respond appropriately in medical emergency situations. Each driver completes first aid and CPR training as part of their comprehensive training program. They are equipped to provide initial assistance and quickly contact emergency services if a medical situation arises during a trip. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers, maintaining a calm and supportive environment until professional medical help arrives.
 


QC Transport proudly serves all of Windham County, Connecticut, including key areas such as Brooklyn, Plainfield, and Killingly. We also extend our services to parts of Tolland and New London Counties, ensuring reliable and comfortable transportation across a broad area. For those in need of specialty transportation services, such as wedding transportation or custom travel arrangements, we offer expanded coverage to any location within Connecticut, provided bookings are made well in advance. This flexibility allows us to accommodate a wide range of transportation needs, from routine medical appointments to special events, ensuring that wherever you are in Connecticut, QC Transport can assist you. QC Transport offers full services Monday through Friday, with limited staff availability on Saturdays and Sundays. We are committed to providing transportation on holidays as well, ensuring that you have access to our services when you need them. However, please note that rides on weekends and holidays require advance booking to ensure we can arrange appropriate coverage. Additionally, premium rates may apply on holidays due to the extra staffing requirements. We recommend scheduling your transportation needs as early as possible, especially during busy holiday periods, to secure your preferred timing and to accommodate any special arrangements.
 


Coverage for NEMT rides can vary significantly depending on your individual insurance plan. In Connecticut, most Medicaid/Husky members are eligible to receive NEMT rides at no cost. These services are typically arranged through the state’s Medicaid transportation broker, MTM, which coordinates and approves all travel. If you are covered by Medicaid/Husky, please contact MTM directly to book your transportation.


For those with private insurance or Medicare Part D, coverage details can differ. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to verify if NEMT services are included in your plan and to understand the specifics of your coverage. The back of your insurance card should include a customer service phone number to help you navigate this process.


Yes, at QC Transport, we understand the importance of support during medical visits or other travels. Family members, caregivers, or friends are welcome to accompany patients during their rides, provided there is sufficient space and prior arrangement has been made. For each type of vehicle in our fleet, we specify the number of additional passengers it can comfortably accommodate along with the patient.


Please let us know at the time of booking if additional passengers will be joining so we can ensure the vehicle provided meets your needs. This helps us maintain comfort and safety for all passengers throughout the journey.


At QC Transport, we fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and welcome service animals aboard our vehicles. Passengers accompanied by a service animal do not need prior approval; however, we appreciate advance notice when possible to ensure that both you and your service animal have a comfortable trip.


Please note that the service animal must be under the control of the owner at all times and should not occupy a seat. They should be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal's work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.

Each vehicle in our fleet undergoes a rigorous daily cleaning process and is sanitized thoroughly to meet health and safety standards.
